Pentecostal Preacher Woman: The Faith & Feminism of Bernice Gerard with Dr. Linda Ambrose

Dr. Linda Ambrose, professor of history at Laurentian University, will discuss her newly released book Pentecostal Preacher Woman: The Faith and Feminism of Bernice Gerard. Reverend Bernice Gerard (1923–2008) was one of the most influential spiritual figures in twentieth-century British Columbia. She was a multifaceted woman—evangelical pastor, talk-show host, university chaplain, municipal politician, and musician—whose complicated blend of social conservatism and social compassion has lessons for our polarized times. Dr. Ambrose has invested years researching and writing about Rev. Gerard. Join us to learn more about this fascinating British Columbian!
