Are you intimidated by the thought of embarking on a PhD? Are you in the throes of the journey but have lost sight of why you began in the first place?
Author Leela Viswanathan has been there and her book, The Deliberate Doctorate, is designed to help graduate students (current and potential) every step of the way.
Viswanathan reflects on challenging situations on the road to her PhD and offers insights from her experiences as an associate professor and PhD supervisor.
Join Dr. Viswanathan and fellow UBC graduate students on October 19, 12:00-1:30pm to connect and discuss ways to avoid burnout, define boundaries, and a values-based approach to earning a PhD.
This is a fireside chat where students are welcome to listen, learn, and pose questions for a stimulating group discussion. Light lunch will provided. All UBC graduate students are welcome, however those thinking of pursuing a PhD and/or embarking on one right now may find this event more relevant.
This event was generously sponsored by St. John’s College and UBC Press.
