How do I publish with UBC Press?
UBC Press publishes in the social sciences, in areas such as Indigenous studies, Canadian history, political science, and Asian studies. If you have a manuscript in one of our publishing areas, please contact an acquisitions editor (via email) with your manuscript idea. Please follow the instructions on the Publish with Us section of our website.
Please note that we don't publish fiction, poetry, or in areas not specified in the "publish with us" section. Unfortunately, we are also not able to distribute previously-published books.
Can UBC Press distribute my book?
UBC Press has proudly partnered with many publishers to offer distribution services in Canada. If you're a publisher looking for distribution in Canada, please contact Megan Malashewsky for more information.
Unfortunately, at this time we cannot distribute individual titles for authors.

Why thank you! We offer FREE SHIPPING on all Canadian orders over $39.95, before taxes. Or, the following shipping rates apply: CANADA: $8.50 for 1 book, $1.50 for each additional book. US: $15.00 for 1 book, $2.50 for each additional book. OVERSEAS: $30.00 for 1 book, $2.50 for each additional book. We encourage our international customers to try one of our distributors. Are your books carried by bookstores?
Yes! You will find our books in many bookstores across Canada, as well as online at Amazon and Indigo. If you don’t find what you’re looking for at your favourite bookstore, ask them to contact us for ordering information.
Can I buy UBC Press e-books?
Yes. For many UBC Press books, e-pubs are available and can be played on most standard e-readers (i.e., Kobo). E-books can be purchased from this website. For most of our titles, e-pdfs are also available. For instructions on downloading and reading purchased e-books, please visit our e-book instructions page.
Can I purchase books at your office?
Some recent UBC Press titles are available at our office. Please phone or email our front desk prior to visiting to ensure we have stock available. We accept cash, Interac, Visa, and MasterCard.
How do I buy Pacific Educational Press books?
UBC Press holds the right to most, but not all, Pacific Educational Press titles, which can now be ordered through our distributor. At this time, a select number of PEP books are available on our website, while others need to be purchased through their rights holders. For all PEP inquires, including ordering information, please email pep.admin[at]ubc.ca.
