From November 9 through 15, 2020, UBC Press will join the Association of University Presses (AUPresses) and university presses across the world to celebrate University Press week. Emphasizing the role that university presses play in elevating authors, subjects, AUPresses has chosen “Raise UP” as the theme for this year’s University Press Week. “Raise UP” is a particularly apt theme in a time when information moves at faster speeds than ever before across all platforms. It’s critical that scholarship about the most important ideas of the day is nurtured, championed, and made widely available. Check out our University Press Week features below.

RaiseUP and Indigenous Voices in Canada

Please join us for an event celebrating University Press Week featuring a quartet of Canada’s scholarly presses and moderated by Michelle Lobkowicz.

In this event, each press will have two people presenting a book—from the point of view of the press and the author—identifying how university presses provide a platform in Canada for Indigenous voices.

Date: November 10, 3pm CT / 1pm PT

Register in advance via Zoom

Send questions or comments to: Ariel.Gordon@umanitoba.ca.
