Kelly relies on his acquaintance with Alaska for over thirty years, plus contacts with descendants of the legendary hunting and fishing guides who added material including previously unpublished images, and himself mined archives, and on-line resources. Twenty-seven chapters, each about a single legendary outdoor guide ranging in birth from 1873 to 1964, and a concluding chapter with very brief notes about recent people who are ‘legends of Alaska’s great outdoors’ comprehends these legendary people from an historical to a contemporary viewpoint.
Doug Kelly is the author of Florida’s Fishing Legends and Pioneers and is field editor for Florida Sportsman.
